Model speech process

• Analysis
• Excitation or sound source (vocal chords)
• Filtering (vocal tract)

Send bits corresponding to model

• Bits for excitation model
• Bits for filter model

Reconstruct at receiver

• Synthesis
• Reverse of analysis
• Uses same model to generate speech sounds
