Opportunities for one or more graduate research assistantships may soon become available in the area of sensor networks. Specifically, the system to be considered here go beyond basic telemetry collection to incorporate (i) assured and controlled access to sensor net assets, implying a focus on security and management mechanisms; (ii) archives and information dissemination, including interfaces/schemas; and (iii) an application layer that includes high bandwidth requirements, e.g., to support video/image transfer. The sensor network system does not assume a single entity owns and operates the complete sensor network, and thus multi-owner systems will be considered. A prototype test bed will be constructed.
Applicants should be dedicated to pursuing a Ph.D. in EE or CS. Candidates with a M.S. degree in EE, COE or CS are desired. However, highly successful and motivated applicants with only a B.S. will also be seriously considered. Admission to the University of Kansas Graduate School is required (see http://www.eecs.ku.edu/graduate/ for details).
