It is time to begin planning for your participation in the First Annual Langston Hughes Science and Engineering Fair (LHSEF) and the Douglas County Science and Engineering Fair (DCSEF). Beginning a science or engineering project is a great holiday vacation activity! Science fair projects can be fun for both students and parents, and are an excellent way for kids to learn about the scientific method and gain skills that will help them in college. They are a fun way to learn by doing. Anyone can do a science fair project!
The first annual Langston Hughes Science and Engineering Fair (LHSEF) will take place 31 Jan. – 2 Feb. 2007. Projects should be dropped off between 8:20 and 8:45 AM on the morning of Wed. Jan 31 when students arrive, and picked up at 3:45 PM on Fri. 2 Feb at parent pickup. Entries may be individual or groups of two or three and must follow the guidelines of the Douglas County Science and Engineering Fair (see below). Every participant will receive a ribbon!
The Lawrence Public Library has resources to help with project decisions and execution.
