Required Courses: Undergraduate student participants supported with NSF REU funds must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions. Ideally, one REU student is in the Departments of Molecular Biology or Chemistry, and the other is in the Departments of Computer Science or Mathematics. I am looking for students with 3.3/4.0 or higher grade point average and who will enter their junior or senior year in Fall 2009. The REU students are expected to work for approximately 10 hrs/week through the Fall semester and the coming Spring semester with reasonable stipends.

Research Area: I am looking for one or two undergraduate students to participate with me in a NSF research experience for undergraduate (REU) program. The REU program aims to provide appropriate and valuable educational experiences for undergraduate students through research participation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs. The REU students will work me on the project “Machine Learning Approaches for Genome-wide Biological Network Inference” and will work with protein interaction networks (keywords: Bioinformatics, Systems Biology).
