Defense Department grant bolsters 'smart room' project
The Defense Department has joined the National Science Foundation in betting on the work of a team of Kansas University researchers who are trying to make "smart room" technology a reality.
Smart rooms are wired so users can transfer the information and software located on a desktop computer to any computer on a network.
The Defense Department grant is for $1.46 million and runs for two and a half years. The NSF is investing $1.29 million in the project.
Military officials are interested in the research because it will allow soldiers and commanders to share information from multiple sources simultaneously.
