Although bit allocation can substantially increase the error robustness and throughput of the system, the feedback information required at both ends of the transceiver can be very large. Using source coding techniques and wavelet compression techniques, we are devising a approach to significantly reduce the amount of feedback information while negligibly impacting system performance.
