I am an Associate Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Kansas. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013. Prio to the PhD, I worked at Samsung Electronics as a senior system software engineer. I enjoy reading and running.

[CV] [Bio]

My research goal is to build efficient, safe, and secure computing infrastructure (OS, architecture, and middleware) for embedded real-time/cyber-physical systems (especially safety-critical systems in automotive and aerospace sectors.)

Please check out Projects for more details of my current/past research projects.

According to CSRankings, which uses a publication quality based metric, KU is ranked 14th in the US in the embedded & real-time systems area (2013 - 2019).

I am looking for motivated students who are interested in systems research. Experiences and interests in computer architecture, Linux kernel, security, and intelligent robots (e.g., self-driving cars, UAVs) are valued. Feel free to email me if you are interested and have solid background on modern computer architecture and OS.
